San Diego Marathon 2009 winner is Khalid El Boumlili of Morocco. Khalid won 12th Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, covering the 26.2-mile course from Balboa Park to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 16 seconds.
- Samuel Mugo of Kenya finished second in 2:12.37
- Ethiopia’s Tesaya Tola finisher third
Women
- Yuliya Gromova of Russia defended her women’s title, winning in 2:27.36.
- Kenya’s Hellen Kimutai placed second in 2:29.32.
El Boumlili and Gromova both made $25,000 for their victories.
