North Platte native Danny Woodhead carried the rock 14 times for the New York Jets in their 23-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in preseason action.

Woodhead gained 41 yards on the ground, adding 12 more on two catches out of the backfield.
It marked Woodhead’s most extensive professional action. He nearly punched the ball into the end zone near the end of the game, but was stopped short. Quarterback Eric Ainge scored on a sneak on the next play.
Jets first-round pick, QB Mark Sanchez, threw an interception on his first pass that was returned for a touchdown. Sanchez rebounded to throw for a score of his own later in the game.
The close loss dropped New York to 0-2 in the preseason. They will face the New York Giants on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Danny Woodhead is an American footballer who plays at running back position. He is 24 years old, born at city of North Platte, Nebraska on 25th January, 1985. Presently, he is engaged with New York Jets for NLF (National Football League). He joined New York Jets last year. Danny undrafted for NFL 2008 draft and signed agreement with New York Jets. Before starting professional career, he had been playing for Chadron State College.
Danny made many rushing records for college football which include single season and all time rushing. He was honored with Harlon Hill Trophy for two consecutive years in 2006 and 2007. This trophy is awarded to overall best player in NCAA Division. By winning this trophy, he also made himself third player in history who won it twice, Johnny Bailey and Dusty Bonner are two other players who won this trophy twice.
In the year 2007, NCAA declared Danny as a leading rusher, all time and all division. He held this record throughout a year, later on Nate Kmic broke this record on 13th December 2008. That time Nate was playing at running back position from Mount Union College.
Earlier at school level, Danny broke many records while playing from North Platte High School situated in North Platte, Nebraska. Due to his remarkable performance, the school bet opponent, the Millard North High School and qualified for the finals in a state tournament of year 2001.
