Obama's speech to schools scheduled next Tuesday
President Barak Obama’s speech to schools is a nationwide broadcast to schoolchildren next Tuesday. According to education department Obama’s speech is as an attempt to motivate schoolchildren, returning that day after the summer break, to stay on in education and work harder. President’s speech to schools scheduled to last about 15 to 20 minutes, will be from a classroom in Arlington, Virginia, over the river from Washington DC.
There is already a lot of oposition to speech by Republican and they have accused Obama of seeking to spread socialist ideology. Republicans objected saying that this would mean politicisation of school education.
Many schools across the country are planning to boycott the broadcast and are organising alternative events. Considering this resistance the White House has clarified that Obama was not planning to make a policy speech and that teachers and students no longer had to submit proposals to the president but instead “write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals”. The White House also planned to release a copy of Obama’s speech on Monday so schools and parents could decide for themselves whether it amounted to propaganda.
