Hitler in Aids is Mass Murderer Campaign

An Aids awareness advertiesment campaign featuring Hitler (Saddam and Stalin) has created controversy. A German AIDS awareness group was criticized by many after posting online ads and video which show a young couple having intercourse when the partner soon is replaced by Adolf Hitler. The advertisers have plans to use Joseph Stalin and Saddam Hussein faces as well to depict Aids as a mass murderer.

Based on the handout from ‘das Comitee‘  the advertising agency of these ads one of the poster of the ‘Aids is a mass murderer’ campaign features Adolf Hitler. The closing mesage is “AIDS is a mass murderer”.

Three different posters have been produced and all the posters bear the tagline “AIDS is a mass murderer” and feature different women having sex, or about to have sex, with one of the above. The ad agency behind the posters, Germany’s Das Comitee, also produced a graphic video of a woman having sex with Hitler that appears on the campaign’s website.

Many prominent Jewish groups and AIDS prevention advocates demanded the ad be withdrawn. The advertiesment is offensive to people who have HIV. People say that creators of the campaign are only concerned about popularity as Hitler sells, without consideration for other’s emotions.

The agency says that over the last few years, public interest in AIDS has massively declined while the number of victims, however, has not (they even have a Aids death counter on website). As of now, over 28 million people worldwide have died. And every day another 5,000 fatalities are added to that number (one in every 15 seconds). This makes AIDS one of the largest mass murderers of all time. And hece they say the campaign is justified to create awareness.
