Monsters of folk: Watch video

“THE RIGHT PLACE” watch VIDEO:  Their debut CD corrals a quartet of today’s smartest, neo-sensitive singer-songwriters, including Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes), Mike Moggis All the artists tarry at the blurry intersection of folk, rock, and country, which explains why MOF suggests nothing so much as a modern day Byrds or Buffalo Springfield. The first three songs give us cuts fronted, in order, by James (under the shifty name Yim Yames), Oberst, and Ward.Moggis remains mute throughout, though he contributed mightily to the album’s instrumentation. He also exercises ample use of his production forte. Here’s hoping MOF’s rich bounty doesn’t turn out to be a one-off meal but instead a moveable feast. plays United Palace Nov. 6th and the Beacon Theater Nov. 8th.
