16 and Pregnant is an MTV reality TV show produced by Morgan J. Freeman started in June 2009. The hour-long documentary series is focusing on the controversial subject of teen pregnancy. It follows the story of pregnant girls in high school. It typically follows a different teenage girl in every episode beginning when she is around 5-8 months pregnant teenager. The episode shoes the life of a teenager as she navigates the bumpy terrain of adolescence, growing pains, rebellion, and coming of age; all while dealing with being pregnant. The episode usually ends when the baby is a few months old. The series is produced in a documentary format, with an animation of an elaborate cartoon depiction on notebook paper of highlights during each episode preceding the commercial breaks.

Each story offers a unique look into the wide variety of challenges pregnant teens face: marriage, adoption, religion, gossip, finances, rumors among the community, graduating high school, getting (or losing) a job.
