Giant crack in Africa will create a new ocean? Yes that will be according to a new study by the Journal of Geophysical Research. The study says that a giant 35 mile crack in Ethiopia may create a new ocean through Africa. The study found that a 35 mile crack as wide as 20 feet in sections has been enlarging itself since 2005 and could be indications of an ocean forming (like the Red Sea)

The study looks at tectonic ocean plates near the crack. That type of activity occurs at the bottom of oceans but at depths too difficult to study.
