Meteor shower or leonids meteor shower in Nov 16 2009, Tuesday. last observed in 2001. Once will again appear, from midnight (time) on to 3.30 am the next day (Wednesday). According to NASA predictions, there will be between eight and 10 meteors are expected to be visible per minute. The meteor shower will be visible just above the horizon, and one will not need binoculars to view the event.
The Leonid meteor shower produces an average of around 40 meteors per hour at its peak. It has a cyclic peak year every 33 years, with hundreds of meteors visible every hour. Numbering hundreds of meteors per hour is expected to peak between 3.04 am and 3.14 am. This shower, consisting of debris from Comet Tempel-Tuttle, may not be as grand as the Perseids of this past summer, but the show should still be worth watching.
