ProPublica is a non-profit corporation based in Manhattan, New York. It describes itself as an independent non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest.ProPublica won a Pulitzer Prize Monday while the Washington Post won a total of four of the prestigious U.S. journalism awards and the New York Times was awarded three. Shari Fink, a ProPublica writer, shared the Pulitzer for Investigative Reporting with The New York Times Magazine for a story on deaths at a New Orleans hospital in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.Pulitzer prize winners 2010 have been announced on Monday April 12. The prestigious award for journalism was established by Joseph Pulitzer in 1917, and administered by Columbia University.
