Titanic actress Gloria Stuart Dies at 100. 1930s Hollywood blonde beauty Gloria Stuart and the oldest Academy Award acting nominee (at 87) for her role as the feisty survivor of “Titanic,” has died.
Gloriya Stuart was 100 years old. GloriaStuart died from respiratory failure in her Los Angeles home. GloriaStuart actress was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 years ago and also beat breast cancer approximately 20 years ago. Stuart tells of Titanic, the luxurious liner that sank on its maiden voyage after crashing into an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912. The 17-year-old Rose was played by co-star Kate Winslet, who also received an Oscar nomination. Stuart died in her sleep on Sunday night at her Los Angeles home, her grandson Benjamin Stuart Thompson said Monday.
Gloria Frances Stuart (July 4, 1910 – September 26, 2010)[1] was an American actress. Over a Hollywood career that spanned more than 70 years, Stuart appeared on stage, in television and film, and was best known for her roles as Claude Rains’ sweetheart in The Invisible Man and as 100-year-old Rose in her Academy Award nominated role in the film Titanic. She was also one of the actors from Hollywood’s Golden Age.
