Halloween Trick-or-treating – Children in costumes, either in large groups or accompanied by an adult, travel from house to house in order to ask for treats such as candy(or, in some cultures, money) with the question “Trick or treat?”.
The “trick” is a (usually idle) threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given.Halloween Trick-or-treating custom began in Ireland when poor people would use the time of year as an excuse to dress up in scary costumes and knock on the doors of the gentry offering ‘protection’ in exchange for food. if none was offered a prank was played on them such as breaking a gate or letting chickens out. Trick-or-treating is a customary practice for children on Halloween seen in many countries.
