The 1.6 litre petrol consumer would be available at Rs.5.58 lakh while the diesel variant with 1.4 litre engine would be available at Rs.6.05 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Garmin has initiated a recall of Garmin nuvi

Garmin has initiated a recall of Garmin nuvi battery due to potential overheating problem leading to fire accidents. In a communique on its website Garmin has indicated that it is recalling certain nüvi devices that contain a specific battery.

Here are excerpts from Garmin nuvi website:

“Garmin is voluntarily recalling certain nüvi devices that contain a specific battery that was manufactured by the battery supplier within a limited date code range. Garmin has identified potential overheating issues when certain batteries manufactured by the third-party battery supplier within a limited date code range are used in certain Garmin nüvi models with a specific printed circuit board (PCB) design. It appears that the interaction of these factors can, in rare circumstances, increase the possibility of overheating, which may lead to a fire hazard. Although there have been no injuries or significant property damage caused by this issue, Garmin is taking this action out of an abundance of caution.”

How to know if your Garmin nuvi is recalled

The recalled Garmin nuvi devices include a small subset of the following nüvi model numbers:

nüvi 200W, 250W, & 260W
nüvi 7xx (where xx is a two-digit number)

You can determine your nüvi model number by looking at the label on the back or bottom of your nüvi.

That Camry gets 19 miles per gallon (8.08 kilometers per liter) in the city and 28 (11.9 kilometers per liter) on the highway.

Toyota Recall September 2009 is Toyota recall for floor mats of 3.8 million vehicles. According to a safety advisory on its website Toyota indicates that there is a faulty floor mat which can interfere with gas pedal and may cause accident. Toyota recall now is the first recall in 2009.

Recent events have prompted Toyota to take a closer look at the potential for an accelerator pedal to get stuck in the full open position due to an unsecured or incompatible driver’s floor mat. A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death … Until Toyota develops a remedy, it is asking owners of specific Toyota and Lexus models to take out any removable driver’s floor mat and NOT replace it with any other floor mat. It seems that this was this reason that led to the crash of a family driving a Lexus where the floor mat snagged the gas pedal and sent it up to 120 miles per hour before the vehicle crashed into an SUV. The mats have been blamed for that accident, and now the Toyota recall could be one of the biggest in automotive history.

General Motors (GM) who have filed for bankruptcy yesterday is preparing to sell hummer. There are reports that it is sold to a Chinese company? Hummers used to be a symbol of American greatness. Now a Chinese manufacturer is buying the company?

A New York Times report says that the GM has agreed to sell its Hummer SUVs and trucks to the Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company Ltd. Sichuan Tengzhong is a western Chinese machinery company that would like to start making cars. reports say that the deal would be around $500 million.
