Sources report that Pepsi Co has agreed to acquire 66% of the Russian group for $3.8 billion and will then offer to purchase the remaining shares. Workers unload a truck of Pepsi products in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. The company, which is also No. 3 in juice and No. 1 in baby food, has long been seen as an acquisition target. Brokers were estimating a maximum valuation of $4 billion in any purchase of Wimm-Bill-Dann as recently as October.

ROASTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFETY AND DONENESS:

1. Set the oven temperature no lower than 325 °F. Preheating is not necessary.

2. Be sure the turkey is completely thawed. Times are based on fresh or completely thawed frozen birds at a refrigerator temperature of 40 °F or below.

3. Place turkey breast-side up on a flat wire rack in a shallow roasting pan 2 to 2 1/2 inches deep.

Optional steps:

Tuck wing tips back under shoulders of bird (called “akimbo”).
Add 1/2 cup water to the bottom of the pan.
In the beginning, a tent of aluminum foil may be placed loosely over the breast of the turkey for the first 1 to 1 1/2 hours, then removed for browning. Or, a tent of foil may be placed over the turkey after the turkey has reached the desired golden brown.
4. If a meat thermometer is not available, cook stuffing in a casserole. Mix ingredients just before stuffing a turkey; stuff loosely. Additional time is required for the turkey and stuffing to reach a safe internal temperature (see chart below).

5. For safety and doneness, the internal temperature should be checked with a meat thermometer.

The temperature must reach 180 °F in the thigh of a whole turkey (center of the stuffing should reach 165 °F) before removing it from the oven. Cook a turkey breast to 170 °F.

6. Juices should be clear. In the absence of a meat thermometer, pierce an unstuffed turkey with a fork in several places; juices should be clear with no trace of pink.

7. Let the bird stand 20 minutes before removing stuffing and carving.

The American donut brand opens its first branch in Thailand today at Siam Paragon shopping mall. This is Bangkok’s first Krispy Kreme donuts. Bangkokians are now lined up to be among the first to try the sugary fried dough.

Krispy Kreme offered that they would give a year’s supply of a dozen free donuts per week to the first customer when they opened this morning, followed by 6 months of donuts for the 2nd customer, 3 months for the third and so on, right up to the 101th-200th customers, who get a dozen free donuts. In Bangkok today morning at mall, the line outside of Siam Paragon leading into the ground-floor shop continues to grow.

How to cook a turkey

But, How long to cook a turkey per pound should be determined not only by the turkey roasting time, but also the oven temperature.The higher the oven temperature, the shorter time you need to roast your turkey.
The oven temperature should not be lower than 325 o F. Some turkey recipes use an initial temperature of 500 o F at which a 15-pound turkey is roasted for 30 minutes and then cooked at 350 o F for another 2 to 2.5 hours. But that it not definite. You need to watch the inner temperature of the turkey.

The temperature inside the breast or the stuffing or the coldest spot in the turkey should reach a minimal of 165 o F no matter how long you cook a turkey. If you choose to stuff your turkey, combine the dry and wet ingredients just before you cook them. And then fill the turkey’s cavity loosely so that heat can penetrate into the stuffing easily saving some time. That is the USDA advice for the safety concerns.

Turkey roasting times can be decided by following the timetables below which are recommended by the USDA. The same time schedules can be used to decide how long to cook a brined turkey (breast) per pound.

• 8 to 12 pounds 2¾ to 3 hours
• 12 to 14 pounds 3 to 3¾ hours
• 14 to 18 pounds 3¾ to 4¼ hours

• 20 to 24 pounds 4½ to 5 hours

Stuffed

• 4 to 6 pounds (breast) Not usually applicable
• 6 to 8 pounds (breast) 2½ to 3½ hours
• 8 to 12 pounds 3 to 3½ hours
• 12 to 14 pounds 3½ to 4 hours
• 14 to 18 pounds 4 to 4¼ hours
• 18 to 20 pounds 4¼ to 4¾ hours
• 20 to 24 pounds 4¾ to 5¼ hours

You may cook frozen turkey directly. But it needs to double the cooking time that is needed for thawed turkey.Also remember that you should let the roasted turkey covered with foil sit at room temperature for 20 minutes, which is needed to make your carving a little easier.

The First Thanksgiving was celebrated to give thanks to God for helping the pilgrims survive the brutal winter. The first Thanksgiving feast lasted three days providing enough food for 53 pilgrims and 90 Indians. The traditional Thanksgiving menu often features turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie.

Americans may eat these foods on modern day Thanksgiving, but the first feast did not consist of these items. On the first feast turkey was any type of fowl that the pilgrims hunted.

Pumpkin pie wasn’t on the menu because there were no ovens for baking, but they did have boiled pumpkin. Cranberries weren’t introduced at this time. Due to the diminishing supply of flour there was no bread of any kind.

The foods included in the first feast included duck, geese, venison, fish, lobster, clams, swan, berries, dried fruit, pumpkin, squash, and many more vegetables.

Jerome Rodale

Jerome Rodale death video is not traceble ever since the 72-year-old longevity guru died while being shot in a talk show in 1971. Jerome Rodale death was one of the strangest deaths in history. Jerome Irving Rodale died while he was a guest on a talk show and was talking about – you will not beleive it yes – longevity!

Jerome Rodale bragged that he would “live to 100, unless I’m run down by a a sugar-crazy taxi driver” and then he died of a heart attack while being interviewed. This has happned on the Dick Cavett Show in 1971. Jerome Rodale was appearing fast asleep so Dick Cavett joked “Are we boring you, Mr. Rodale?” but soon he discovered that his 72-year-old guest had died while on show. That show was never aired but was filmed. The mystry is that the video of the show is not traceble ever since. Where is the video of that interview?

Jerome Irving Rodale was a Jewish playwright, editor, author and publisher. He was one of the first advocates of a return to sustainable agriculture and organic farming in the United States. He founded a publishing empire, founded several magazines, and published many books, his own and those of others, on health. Rodale popularized the term “organic” to mean grown without pesticides and is regerded as father of “organic food”.

Ben Ali of Ben's chili bowl dies

Ben’s chili bowl founder Ben Ali died at the age of 82 due to natural causes. at his home. Ben’s Chili Bowl is a frequent stop for politicians and celebrities and a landmark in Washington DC.

Ali was an immigrant from Trinidad who moved to Washington and studied at Howard University. Ali opened the restaurant with his wife, Virginia, in an old movie house in 1958. It soon became a fixture in the black business community, serving up bowls of chili and its trademark chili-covered half-smokes. Bill Cosby and Barak Obama are among the guests at the restaurant Ben’s chili bowl.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is testing a kid’s menu in its 21 Sacramento-area restaurants, starting on Oct. 12.

Sacramento is one of the first markets in the West Coast region to test the new menu, and Chipotle is introducing it with free food for kids with a paid adult meal on Sundays through Nov. 8.

Chipotle restaurants from Redding to Turlock will feature the free kid’s meals on Sundays when an adult meal is purchased.

The menu items are priced less than $4 for either a build-it-yourself tacos plate or a single house-made taco and chips. A small meat-and-cheese quesadilla with a side of rice and beans is $2.95.
